About Us

Julians House is a residential care home in Stevenage supporting adults with a learning disability and autistic adults, including younger adults. We also offer respite stays.

This is somebody's home before it is anything else, and we try to keep that at the front of our minds. People choose how their rooms look, what they eat, when they get up and how much of the day they want to spend with others. Some of the people living here have been with us a long time and know the place thoroughly. Others arrive needing time and patience before they settle, and we give them both without treating a slow start as a problem.

Support is planned around what each person wants to do. For some that is cooking, shopping and managing their own money. For others it is getting to college or work, keeping up friendships, or simply having a predictable environment where sensory needs are properly understood rather than worked around.

For younger adults in particular we think about the longer view. The skills and confidence someone builds here shape what is possible for them later, and we would rather support that than keep things easy for ourselves.

Stevenage and the area around it are part of everyday life here rather than an occasional outing.

Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. Please get in touch if you would like to come and see us.
