About The Knole

The Knole is a residential care home in Cheltenham supporting adults with a learning disability, autistic adults, people living with mental ill health, people with a physical disability and people with visual or hearing impairment. Some of the people we support are affected by alcohol or drug misuse. Respite stays are available too. Supporting such a mixed group means there is no single way of running the home, and we do not pretend otherwise. What we aim for is a place where people are taken as they come and where support is built around the individual. Some residents need a very structured day. Others need the opposite, plenty of freedom and somewhere stable to come back to. We work without judgement. People who have struggled with addiction often arrive expecting to be treated as a problem to be managed, and that is not our approach. The same goes for people with a long history of mental ill health. We learn how each person communicates, including those who use little or no speech, and we pay attention to noise, lighting and predictability. Where sight, hearing or mobility is affected, we adapt the practical side properly. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. Please get in touch to visit.
