About Us
Dalkeith is a residential care home in Cheltenham. We provide care for older people, including those living with dementia and those living with mental ill health, people with a physical disability, people with visual or hearing impairment and some younger adults. Respite stays are available too.
Supporting a mixed group under one roof means we cannot run the home to a single pattern, and we do not try. What we aim for is a place where people are taken as they come and where support is built around the individual. Some residents want a very structured day. Others want the opposite, plenty of freedom and somewhere steady to come back to.
Where someone has a physical disability or reduced sight or hearing, we pay attention to the practical details. Equipment that suits the person, a layout that stays predictable, things kept where people expect to find them, and staff who adapt how they communicate rather than expecting the person to manage.
With dementia, familiar faces and a steady rhythm do most of the work, and we treat distress as something with a cause. Where mental ill health is part of the picture we work closely with community teams.
Please come and visit Dalkeith.

Can Mum or Dad stay here if their dementia gets worse?
Yes. Dalkeith is registered for dementia care, so someone whose needs increase can usually stay rather than move. Ask how they support people in the later stages. Source: CQC register

Ask the home. End of life care is not listed on the register. Ask the manager whether residents can remain in the home with hospice or district nurse support.
Can she bring her cat or dog?
Ask the home. The home has not told us its pet policy yet. Ask directly; some homes allow small pets in residents' rooms or welcome visiting dogs.
Can a couple stay together?
Ask the home. We do not know whether the home has rooms for couples. Ask about shared or adjoining rooms if this matters.
Will the council help pay, or is it self funded only?
Ask the home. The home has not told us which funding it accepts. Most homes take both council funded and self funded residents; ask about council rates and any top up. Use our funding calculator to check what you might pay.
Do they take younger adults as well as older people?
Yes. Dalkeith supports younger adults as well as older people. Source: CQC register
Can I visit before deciding, and are there visiting hours?
