About Us
Charlton Kings Care Home is a residential home in Cheltenham. We care for older people who need support with everyday life, including residents living with dementia, people with a physical disability and people whose sight or hearing is impaired. We also support some younger adults.
What we provide is practical daily help: assistance to wash and dress, medication managed properly, meals cooked on the premises, support to move about safely and staff available through the night. What we try hardest to get right is the manner of it, because being helped with intimate things should feel unhurried and ordinary rather than clinical.
For residents living with dementia we keep the rhythm of the day predictable and the staff around them consistent, and we ask families for the history that helps us make sense of somebody when words are hard to find. Where sight or hearing is impaired we keep belongings where they are expected and check we have been understood.
Respite stays are available, whether to give a family carer a proper break or to help somebody regain confidence after a spell in hospital.
Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. Families across Gloucestershire are welcome to visit.
