About Us
Tallis House is a residential care home in Waltham Abbey, Essex, supporting older people and younger adults, including people living with dementia, people with physical disabilities and people with a visual or hearing impairment.
Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is requires improvement. We would rather put that at the front than have somebody discover it elsewhere. It is not the rating we want and we are not going to explain it away. There is an improvement plan in place, we are working through it with our staff, the people who live here and their families, and anybody considering a move is entitled to ask exactly what is changing, who is accountable for it and what evidence there is that it is taking effect.
The life of the home carries on meanwhile and it matters to the people in it. That means support with washing, dressing, medication, meals and mobility given in a way that protects dignity, and for residents living with dementia it means staff who know somebody's history well enough to understand what a particular anxiety is really about.
Respite stays are available. We would encourage families to visit and judge our progress directly.
