About Us
Honey Lane is a residential care home in Waltham Abbey. We look after older people and younger adults, including people living with dementia, and we take respite bookings from those who need a short stay.
We try to run the place as a home rather than as an institution. People get up when they want, spend the day as they choose, and have as much company or as much quiet as suits them. Meals are cooked here and we pay attention to what people genuinely like eating rather than what is easiest to prepare in bulk.
For residents living with dementia, we keep the surroundings calm and familiar and we go with the person rather than correcting them. Small consistencies make a real difference: the same faces, the same rhythm to the day, belongings in the places where they are expected to be.
Getting to know somebody properly is the part we care most about. What they did for a living, who matters to them, what they cannot abide, how they like their tea. Those details are what stop a room being just a room. Families help us learn them, and they are welcome here whenever it suits them.
Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. If you would like to look round, please arrange a visit and see the home as it normally runs.
