About Us
Here at Bevern View, we provide residential care for adults in the heart of Lewes, East Sussex. Our home supports people with a range of needs, including learning disabilities, autism, physical disabilities, and visual or hearing impairments. We also welcome younger adults and offer respite care for those who need a short break from their usual arrangements.
We are proud to have received a rating of "good" from the Care Quality Commission, which reflects the genuine effort our team puts in every day to make sure the people living here are safe, happy and well supported. That rating matters to us, but what matters more is that the people in our care feel at home, feel listened to, and feel respected.
We understand that choosing a care home, whether for yourself or someone you love, is one of the most significant decisions a family can face. We do not take that lightly. From the moment someone first gets in touch with us, we try to make the process as straightforward and reassuring as possible. We take time to understand each person as an individual, learning about their preferences, routines and the things that bring them enjoyment.
Life at Bevern View is built around the people who live here. We work hard to support independence wherever we can, and we involve residents in decisions about their own care and their daily lives. Our team is experienced in supporting people with quite complex needs, and we work closely with healthcare professionals and families to make sure everyone receives the right level of support.
If you would like to find out more about what we offer, or to arrange a visit, we would love to hear from you. We are always happy to answer questions and show you around our home.

More about the care at Bevern View
What each type of care involves, and the questions worth asking when you call or visit.
Learning Disability / Autism
Person centred planning is the heart of learning disability and autism support, covering everything from how a day is structured to how noise and light are managed. Bevern View is registered to support adults with a learning disability or autism. Ask how placements are commissioned, how often reviews take place, and what the home does to help someone build or keep practical independence skills.
Physical Disability
Level access, a wet room and doorways wide enough for a wheelchair decide how independent someone with a physical disability can actually be. Bevern View is registered for physical disability. Ask to see the bathrooms and bedrooms rather than take a description on trust, and check what equipment the home provides and what families are expected to supply.
Visual / Hearing Impairment
Clear signage, contrasting colours on door frames and a hearing loop in the lounge are the details that make a building usable when sight or hearing has faded. Bevern View holds registration covering visual and hearing impairment. Families should ask how staff introduce themselves, whether written material can be provided in large print, and who checks that hearing aids are working.
Younger Adults
Where most residents are elderly, a younger adult needs something of their own to make the place feel liveable, whether that is a gym, a college course or simply going out unaccompanied. Bevern View is registered to care for adults under 65. Ask what the age range on site looks like at present and how much freedom younger residents have to come and go.
Respite Care
A break for the regular carer, recovery after a hospital stay, or a trial run before committing are the usual reasons families look at respite. Bevern View is registered to offer short stays. Ask about the minimum length accepted, how far ahead the popular weeks are taken, and what to bring beyond clothes and medication.
Residential Care
Residential care covers the ordinary business of living when managing alone has become too much: meals cooked and served, help with washing and dressing, laundry done and company on hand. Bevern View in Lewes is registered to provide residential care. The distinction from a nursing home matters, because residential settings employ care staff rather than registered nurses, and district nurses visit when clinical input is needed. Inspectors rated the home good, although that judgement dates from September 2018 and is best read alongside more current impressions. Weekly fees in the South East commonly sit between 1100 and 1450 pounds, while the county council typically pays in the region of 800 to 950. Ask what activities run during a normal week and how residents choose whether to join in.

Can Mum or Dad stay here if their dementia gets worse?

Will they support end of life care, so there is no move at the hardest time?
Ask the home. End of life care is not listed on the register. Ask the manager whether residents can remain in the home with hospice or district nurse support.
Can she bring her cat or dog?
Ask the home. The home has not told us its pet policy yet. Ask directly; some homes allow small pets in residents' rooms or welcome visiting dogs.
Can a couple stay together?
Ask the home. We do not know whether the home has rooms for couples. Ask about shared or adjoining rooms if this matters.
Will the council help pay, or is it self funded only?
Ask the home. The home has not told us which funding it accepts. Most homes take both council funded and self funded residents; ask about council rates and any top up. Use our funding calculator to check what you might pay.
Do they take younger adults as well as older people?
Yes. Bevern View supports younger adults as well as older people. Source: CQC register
Can I visit before deciding, and are there visiting hours?
Ask the home. Every home should welcome a visit. Call to arrange one, ideally at a mealtime or during an activity, and ask about visiting hours for family.
