About Us
We are The Emilie Galloway Home of Rest in Eastbourne, East Sussex. We provide residential care for older people, both as a permanent home and as a respite stay for those who need support for a shorter period.
Residential care means helping with the parts of daily life that have become hard work and leaving everything else in the hands of the person. Washing and dressing, meals, medication, moving about safely, and the ordinary company that makes a day worth having. Where health needs go beyond our registration we work with district nurses and GPs rather than stretching to cover something we should not.
We think a care home ought to feel like a home rather than an institution, and most of what that takes is unremarkable. People keep their own belongings and routines. Meals are sociable rather than administered. Nobody needs permission to have a visitor. Staff know the people living here well enough to notice when someone is not quite themselves.
Respite guests receive the same assessment and the same welcome as permanent residents, whether they are recovering from illness or giving a family carer a break.
Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good.
