About Us
Grange House is a residential care home in Eastbourne, East Sussex. We care for older people and younger adults, including people living with dementia and people with mental health conditions, and we offer respite stays for those who need care for a shorter period.
Our work rests on knowing people properly. For someone living with dementia that means understanding the life they have led, the work they did, the music they know and the routines that steady them, and using that knowledge through the day rather than filing it away. For someone living with a mental health condition it means being consistent through the better weeks and the harder ones, and treating a difficult stretch as something to support rather than something that costs a person their independence.
Days here follow the people who live here rather than a timetable. Some want company and something to do. Others want quiet and their own room. Both are reasonable ways to spend an afternoon.
Families are welcome and we would rather they felt part of the house than treated as visitors.
We want to be plain about where we stand. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is requires improvement. We accept that finding and are working through the areas it identified. Please come and see us, ask about the rating directly and judge the home on what you actually find here.
