About Benton Care Services

We are a residential care home in Stanley, County Durham. We support adults with a learning disability, autistic adults, adults living with a mental health condition and people living with dementia. Many of the people here are younger adults, and we offer respite stays as well as permanent places. Because we support that spread of people, we do not run the house to one timetable. Someone may be out at college or work during the week. Someone else may need the day laid out exactly the same way every time in order to feel safe. Both of those are accommodated, and neither is treated as more deserving than the other. Support here is agreed with the person rather than written about them. Plans are set out in language the person can actually read, staff are matched to people with some thought, and when something is not working we change it rather than defending it. Where a plan involves a degree of risk, we start from how it might be made to work. Stanley is a former pit town with a strong sense of itself, staff are mostly local and tend to stay, and the people who live here are part of the place rather than tucked away from it. The Care Quality Commission rates us good overall. Come and visit, and talk to the people living here.
