About The Hollies
The Hollies is a residential care home in St Austell, Cornwall, providing a permanent home for older people who need care and support with everyday life. We try to keep the atmosphere domestic rather than institutional. Our care is residential rather than nursing. We help with personal care, medication, meals, mobility and company, and we bring in community health professionals when something more clinical is needed. Many of our residents live with dementia, and we rely on continuity above all: familiar staff who know a person's history, a routine that does not keep shifting and reassurance given as often as it is needed. We support residents living with mental health conditions, where a settled environment and early attention to changes matter greatly, and residents with physical disabilities or a visual or hearing impairment, adapting how we communicate and how we assist. Respite stays are available for families needing a planned break. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is requires improvement. We would rather set that out here ourselves than have a family come across it later. The areas identified are where our effort is going at present. Please visit on an ordinary day, speak to residents and relatives, and ask us about it directly.
