About HF Trust - Trelowen

Trelowen is a residential care home in St Austell, Cornwall, supporting adults with a learning disability and autistic adults, including older people and younger adults. We also offer respite stays, which families often rely on for a planned break or when circumstances change unexpectedly. We run this as somebody's home rather than as a placement. People choose how their rooms look, what goes on the shopping list, how a weekend is spent and who comes to visit. Where somebody needs support to make a decision we give it in whatever form works for them, whether that is words, pictures or simply showing the options, and we take the time it needs rather than deciding on their behalf. Routine and proper warning matter here. We hold to what has been agreed and explain changes in good time and in a way each person can follow. Staff are asked to know everyone well, because knowing somebody's usual self is what allows you to notice early that they are unwell or unhappy about something they find hard to say. We also want people to have a life beyond the front door, so we support work and college placements, activities locally and contact with family and friends on the person's own terms. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. Please come and see the house on an ordinary day.
