About Us

We are a small residential home in High Wycombe supporting adults with learning disabilities and autistic people.

Because only a few people live here, the place works as a household. Everyone has their own room arranged how they like it, and the week is worked out between the people who live here and the staff supporting them: what is cooked, when the shopping happens, who wants to go out and where to. Those are small matters that add up to whether somebody feels at home or merely accommodated.

Support is built around what each person wants to be able to do. For some that is a job, a college course or a regular volunteering day. For others it is getting out into the town, keeping up with family, managing money with a hand from staff, or doing more for themselves in the kitchen. We take the long view, since progress in this work is usually gradual and the gains that matter are often ones nobody outside the house would notice.

Consistency counts for a great deal, particularly for autistic people, so we keep staffing as settled as we can and explain changes before they happen. Respite stays are available alongside longer places.

Our most recent inspection by the Care Quality Commission rated us good overall. Please come and visit and meet the people who live here.

Can Mum or Dad stay here if their dementia gets worse?

No. Cotswold Cottage is not listed for dementia care on the CQC register. If dementia is likely, choose a home that is, so a second move is not needed later. Source: CQC register

Ask the home. The home has not told us its pet policy yet. Ask directly; some homes allow small pets in residents' rooms or welcome visiting dogs.

Ask the home. The register does not say which age groups the home supports. Ask the home.
