About Us
Anchor House is a residential care home in Poole supporting adults with learning disabilities, autistic adults and people with physical disabilities, including younger adults moving into a home of their own. We also offer respite stays, planned ahead so that a short stay is a visit somewhere familiar. Because we support people with both learning and physical disabilities, a lot of our attention goes on practical detail. Equipment, hoists, wheelchairs, seating and access all decide whether somebody can get where they want to go and do things for themselves, so we get them right and we review them as needs change. Just as much attention goes on communication. Some people here use speech, others use signs, symbols or a device, and others tell us a great deal through their behaviour. Beyond that, this is somebody's home. People choose how their rooms look, help with the shopping and the cooking if they want to, and decide how their week is spent. Poole has a good deal to offer, from the beach to the shops to the leisure centre, and we do the planning it takes to make use of it. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. Families and professionals are welcome to visit and see how we work.

Ask the home. End of life care is not listed on the register. Ask the manager whether residents can remain in the home with hospice or district nurse support.

Ask the home. The home has not told us its pet policy yet. Ask directly; some homes allow small pets in residents' rooms or welcome visiting dogs.

Ask the home. We do not know whether the home has rooms for couples. Ask about shared or adjoining rooms if this matters.
Will the council help pay, or is it self funded only?
Ask the home. The home has not told us which funding it accepts. Most homes take both council funded and self funded residents; ask about council rates and any top up. Use our funding calculator to check what you might pay.

Yes. Anchor House supports younger adults as well as older people. Source: CQC register
Can I visit before deciding, and are there visiting hours?
