About Us
Aucklands Care in Bournemouth is a residential home supporting older people and younger adults. Our experience covers dementia, learning disabilities and autism, mental health needs, sensory loss, and support for people in recovery from alcohol or drug misuse. Respite stays are part of what we do.
Supporting that mix well depends on treating people as individuals rather than as categories. Somebody living with dementia, somebody managing a long standing mental health condition and somebody rebuilding a life after addiction need very different things from us, and the common factor is not a method but an attitude: we ask, we listen, and we do not assume we know best about a life we have not lived.
Practically, that means plans written with the person, help with personal care and medication given the way they prefer, routines that belong to them rather than to the rota, and a house where people can have company or keep to themselves. We are consistent about expectations because people tell us clarity helps more than indulgence, and we work closely with GPs and community teams.
Our most recent inspection by the Care Quality Commission rated us outstanding overall. We were pleased by it, and we read it mainly as a sign that the ordinary daily things are being done properly and consistently.

Can Mum or Dad stay here if their dementia gets worse?

Ask the home. End of life care is not listed on the register. Ask the manager whether residents can remain in the home with hospice or district nurse support.
Can she bring her cat or dog?
Ask the home. The home has not told us its pet policy yet. Ask directly; some homes allow small pets in residents' rooms or welcome visiting dogs.
Can a couple stay together?
Ask the home. We do not know whether the home has rooms for couples. Ask about shared or adjoining rooms if this matters.
Will the council help pay, or is it self funded only?
Ask the home. The home has not told us which funding it accepts. Most homes take both council funded and self funded residents; ask about council rates and any top up. Use our funding calculator to check what you might pay.

Yes. Aucklands Care supports younger adults as well as older people. Source: CQC register
Can I visit before deciding, and are there visiting hours?
