About Evergreen Lodge
Evergreen Lodge is a nursing home in Birkenhead caring for older people, including those living with dementia. Qualified nurses are on duty day and night, working alongside carers who know the people here, so that health needs and everyday life are looked after together rather than separately. We know that families usually come to us at a difficult moment, often when nursing care has become necessary quite suddenly. Our aim is to make the move as calm as we can: to find out how somebody likes their day to run, to keep faces consistent, and to give clear information about how they are rather than leaving relatives to guess. For people living with dementia we keep things familiar and unhurried, and we put our effort into knowing the person, their history and what settles them when they are anxious. Meals are cooked on the premises and adapted where swallowing or appetite is a difficulty. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is requires improvement, and we would rather tell you that ourselves. We have taken the findings seriously and are working through what was raised, with support from the local health and social care teams. We are happy to go through it with you in detail. Short stays are available when a carer at home needs a break. If you are considering nursing care for a relative, please come and see us and ask us whatever you need to.
