About Us
Valerie Manor is a nursing home in Steyning, West Sussex. We care for older people and younger adults who need qualified nursing alongside everyday support, including people with a physical disability and people with a visual or hearing impairment. Registered nurses are here around the clock, so medication, wound and pressure care and changing health needs are managed on site and residents are not moved on each time their health shifts. Most of what makes a day good here has little to do with nursing. It is being helped out of bed at the hour you would choose, eating something you actually fancy, having your own pictures on the wall and having someone talk with you about something other than your health. Those things are the first to be squeezed when clinical demands rise, so we protect them deliberately. Where a resident has poor sight or hearing, we adapt how we communicate and check that aids are working, so nobody drifts out of the life of the home. Respite stays are available for families needing a break and for people recovering after a hospital admission. We work closely with general practitioners, district nurses and hospital teams. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good.
