About Us
New Elmcroft is a nursing home in Shoreham By Sea. We care for older people who need nursing support, including those living with dementia, and we also support some younger adults. Respite stays are available alongside permanent places.
Having registered nurses on site around the clock means clinical needs are met in the home rather than through repeated trips to hospital. Wound care, catheters, diabetes, pain relief and the gradual changes that come with frailty are managed by people who know the person, in surroundings they know.
Most of good nursing care is unglamorous and depends on reliability. Pressure care that does not slip. Mouth care that is not skipped. Someone sitting with a person who is frightened in the night.
The rest of the job is making sure there is a life here and not only treatment. Residents choose their routines and their rooms are their own. With dementia we keep the surroundings calm and familiar and look for what lies behind distress.
Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is requires improvement. We are not going to gloss over that. We know which areas were identified, work is in hand, and we would rather discuss it openly with anyone considering New Elmcroft than have it come as a surprise. Please visit, ask us direct questions and see the home as it actually is.
