About Us

Homelands Nursing Home is at Cowfold in West Sussex, and we provide nursing care for older people and for younger adults whose conditions require qualified nursing. Respite stays are available when a family carer needs a break or cover.

Having registered nurses on duty at every hour shapes everything here. Medication is managed closely, wound care, catheter care and conditions that vary from week to week are handled on site, and a change in a resident's health is usually noticed early because the person noticing knows them well. We work alongside GPs, district nurses, therapists and hospital teams, and we press for what a resident needs when it is slow in coming.

Dementia care matters as much to us as clinical care, and the two cannot really be separated. Someone who is frightened or in pain and cannot say so will show us in other ways, and reading that properly depends on knowing the person. So we ask families about working lives, families, music, food and old habits, and we keep the day calm and familiar rather than busy and full of surprises.

We should be open about our position. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is requires improvement. We have gone through the findings with our team and those areas are where our attention is concentrated at present. Anyone considering Homelands is welcome to come on an ordinary working day, see the place as it really is, and ask us about it directly.
