About Moorlands Nursing Home

We are Moorlands Nursing Home in Lightwater, Surrey. We provide nursing care for older people and for younger adults with nursing needs, including people living with dementia, people with a physical disability and people with sight or hearing loss. We also take respite admissions for short planned stays and for people recovering after illness or surgery. Qualified nurses are on duty around the clock, which means medication, wound and pressure care, continence support, management of long term conditions and care at the end of life are all handled here, in surroundings that stay domestic rather than clinical. We work alongside visiting general practitioners, therapists and specialist nurses, and we keep families informed properly rather than only when something has gone wrong. Good nursing does not on its own make a good home, so we pay attention to the rest. Meals are cooked here and people eat what they actually like. Mornings run at each resident's own speed. Rooms carry people's own pictures and furniture. For residents with impaired sight or hearing we make sure staff announce themselves, explain what they are about to do and leave belongings exactly where they were left, small habits that make an enormous difference to confidence. For people living with dementia we keep the day familiar and follow the person's lead. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good, and visitors are welcome to come and see how the home feels on an ordinary day.
