Banstead Manor is a care home with nursing in Banstead in Surrey. We care for older people and younger adults who need nursing support, including people living with dementia and people with physical disabilities, and we take respite bookings. We put real effort into the surroundings here, because where somebody lives affects how they feel every day. But a comfortable building counts for very little if the care inside it is thoughtless, so most of our attention goes on the ordinary things. Having qualified nurses on site around the clock means people whose health is genuinely complicated can stay with us as things change, rather than moving on at the point continuity matters most. Wounds, pain, continence, nutrition, medication and safe movement are all managed properly here. Dementia asks for a familiar day above anything we could add. We keep things recognisable, we avoid surprises, and when somebody is unsettled we look for the reason rather than trying to smooth it over. Relatives usually hold the useful detail and we want to hear it, including what they assume is too small to mention. At our most recent inspection the Care Quality Commission rated us good overall, and we keep asking residents and families where we fall short.
