About Us
We are Abbeywell Court, a nursing home in Newcastle in Staffordshire. We care for older people who need qualified nursing alongside support with daily living, including people living with dementia and people living with mental health conditions, and we also look after younger adults with nursing needs. Respite stays are available.
Nurses on duty at all hours are what allow us to manage health needs as they change, from medication and wound care to pain and the increasing frailty that often comes with great age. Nobody should have to move again simply because their needs have grown, and families tell us regularly that avoiding another upheaval was their main concern when they came looking.
Around the nursing, we work to keep ordinary life intact. People get up when they want, eat what they like, choose where to sit and keep their own belongings and routines. We take the trouble to learn habits and history, partly because it is the decent thing and partly because staff who know somebody well are the ones who notice quickly when they are not themselves.
We are also mindful that a routine designed for people in their nineties will not suit a younger adult, so we plan individually rather than by category.
Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. Please ring us if you would like to look round.
