About Us

The Julie Richardson Nursing Home is in Banbury, Oxfordshire, and we care for a wide range of people. Older people whose health needs go beyond residential care. Younger adults living with conditions that require qualified nursing. People living with dementia. Adults with learning disabilities and autistic people. People living with mental ill health alongside a physical condition. People with physical disabilities and people living with sight or hearing loss. Respite stays are available as well.

Registered nurses are on duty at all hours, which is what allows us to take on that breadth. Medication is managed closely, wound care, catheter care and conditions that fluctuate are handled on site, and a change in somebody's health is usually noticed early because the person noticing knows them. We work with GPs, district nurses, community mental health teams, therapists and hospital staff, and we keep pressing when a resident needs something that is slow to arrive.

Dementia care runs through much of our work, and we treat it as caring for a person with a history rather than managing a condition. Families hold most of that history and we ask for it early, because it is what lets us make sense of distress somebody cannot put into words.

Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is outstanding. We are pleased about that, though the measure that matters more to us is whether residents and their families would say the same. Visitors are welcome at any reasonable hour. Ring us to arrange a look round.
