About Us
Bridgewater Park Care Home is a nursing home in Scunthorpe. We care for older people who need nursing support, including those living with dementia, people with a physical disability and some younger adults. Respite stays are available alongside permanent places.
Having registered nurses on site around the clock means clinical needs are met in the home rather than through repeated trips elsewhere. Wound care, catheters, diabetes, pain relief and the gradual changes that come with frailty are managed by people who know the person. Families can ring and speak to somebody who can actually say how their relative has been that day.
Most of good nursing care is small things done reliably and on time. Pressure care that does not slip. Mouth care that is not skipped. Someone sitting with a person who is frightened in the night. We would rather be judged on those than on anything we could put in a brochure.
The other half of the job is making sure there is a life here and not only treatment. Residents choose their routines and their rooms are their own. With dementia we keep the surroundings calm and familiar and treat distress as something with a cause. Where someone has a physical disability we think carefully about equipment and about not helping more than is wanted.
Respite stays suit people needing nursing input briefly and family carers needing a genuine break.
Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. Please come and visit Bridgewater Park.
