About Us
Cumberworth Lodge Care Home is near Doncaster and we are registered for both residential and nursing care. That matters more than it sounds, because it means somebody whose health declines does not automatically have to move again. The nursing comes to the person rather than the person being sent to find the nursing. We care for older adults, including a great many living with dementia, and for younger adults whose health needs require nursing. Respite stays are available alongside permanent places. Qualified nurses are on duty at all hours. The clinical work is detailed and unhurried, covering medicines, wounds, pain, pressure care and making sure people eat and drink enough. What no procedure can cover is noticing early when somebody is not themselves, and that rests entirely on the same staff knowing the same residents over months. So keeping our team is where most of our effort goes. For residents with dementia we keep the day predictable and the surroundings calm, we learn individual histories properly, and we accept that some days are harder than others without treating it as a failure. Families are welcome often and at awkward hours, and we would rather be told promptly when something is wrong. Our overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. Come and see the place on a normal afternoon.
