About Us
Holmwood House Care Centre is a nursing home in Swaffham, Norfolk. We care for adults who need registered nursing alongside help with everyday life, including older people, people living with dementia, people with physical disabilities, people with a visual or hearing impairment and younger adults.
Nursing cover at every hour is what allows us to support people whose needs are genuinely complex. It covers medication, skin and pressure care, continence and nutrition, and the steady monitoring that catches a change while it is still small. Where somebody is nearing the end of their life, it means they can stay somewhere familiar with people who know them.
Clinical care is only part of what a good home does. A nursing home can drift into being a place where the day belongs to the staff rather than to the people living in it, and we work against that. Residents decide when they get up, what they eat, whether they join in and who visits.
For people living with dementia we keep the day in a familiar order and the staff group as steady as we can. For those whose sight or hearing has gone, we adapt how we communicate rather than letting them drift out of the conversation.
Respite and short stays are available. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. Please ring to arrange a visit.
