About Nazareth House
Nazareth House in Lancaster is a nursing home for older people. Being registered for nursing care means we can look after residents whose health needs are more complex than a residential setting can safely manage, with qualified nurses on duty alongside our care team. Most of the people who come to us need both clinical care and help with the everyday things. We look after medication, nutrition, skin integrity, pain and comfort, and we help with washing, dressing and moving about in a way that leaves people doing what they still can for themselves. We work closely with GPs and community health teams so that care is joined up rather than left to chance, and we pay particular attention to the quieter signs that something has changed, because older people do not always say when they feel unwell. We also offer respite stays. These can give a family carer a genuine break, or provide extra support for somebody recovering after a spell in hospital before they go home again. What we care most about is that this feels like a home and not a ward. That means meals worth sitting down to, company, a bit of routine and staff who know people as individuals. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. Visitors are welcome, and we would rather answer a difficult question now than later.
