About Us
Orchard House Care Centre is a nursing home in Newport on the Isle of Wight. Because we are registered for nursing care, we can look after people whose health needs are more complex than a residential home can safely meet, with qualified nurses working alongside our care team rather than visiting from outside.
We care for older adults with ongoing medical conditions, managing medication, nutrition, skin care, pain and comfort while helping with the everyday tasks of washing, dressing and moving about. We keep in close contact with GPs and community health teams so that care is joined up, and we watch for the quieter signs that something has changed, because people do not always say when they feel unwell. Dementia care is a substantial part of our work and rests on familiar staff, a settled routine and taking the time to learn what reassures each individual. We also support residents with physical disabilities, adapting how we assist with moving about so that dignity is not the price of safety, and younger adults with nursing needs, whose days are planned around their own interests.
Respite stays are available for families needing a planned break or extra support after a hospital stay. Visitors are welcome here, and we would always rather hear a concern while it is still small.
