About Driftwood Lodge

Driftwood Lodge is a nursing home in Clacton on Sea. We support younger adults with complex needs, including people who have a learning disability, autistic people, people with a physical disability and people whose sight or hearing is impaired, with qualified nursing care available at any hour. Supporting younger adults is not the same as supporting older people and we do not pretend otherwise. The people who live here have lives to get on with, interests to follow and firm opinions about how things should be done. Our job is to provide the nursing and personal support that makes those things possible, then get out of the way. That means genuine choice about routines, about how the day is spent and about who comes into somebody's room. For autistic people and people with a learning disability, predictability and clear communication do most of the work. We take time to learn how each person prefers to receive information, we give notice of change wherever we can and we keep sensory needs in mind when planning space and activity. We also take respite bookings, which can give families a planned break and give the person a change of scene. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. You are welcome to visit and see whether the house would suit.
