About Us
Lambwood Heights is a nursing home in Chigwell, Essex. We support older people and younger adults who need nursing care, including many living with dementia, people with physical disabilities and people living with sight or hearing loss. We also offer respite stays.
Having registered nurses as part of the team means people with complex health needs can stay here as those needs change rather than being moved on again. That continuity is worth more than it sounds. Moving is hard on anybody and hardest on somebody living with dementia, for whom familiar faces and surroundings are doing genuine work.
Something we try to get right is how we talk to families. Relatives of somebody in a nursing home often feel they are being informed rather than involved, and they usually know things about the person that no assessment would uncover. So we ask, we keep them in the picture when health changes, and we would rather ring with something small than let a relative discover it on a visit.
The clinical side is only part of a day, and usually the smaller part. The rest is meals worth eating, help without a long wait, privacy, company, and being spoken to as somebody with a history.
The Care Quality Commission rates us good overall. Anyone thinking of moving here should come and see an ordinary weekday afternoon rather than an arranged visit.
