About Us
The Lawns Care Home is a nursing home in Chelmsford, Essex. We care for people whose needs mean that qualified nursing has to be part of daily life, including older people, younger adults, people with a physical disability and adults with a learning disability or who are autistic. Registered nurses are on site around the clock, so medication, wound and pressure care and shifting health needs are handled here rather than becoming a reason for someone to move on again. We take the view that nursing is the foundation of what we do and not the whole of it. Residents should be able to get up when they choose, eat food they actually like, keep their own belongings around them and have someone talk with them about something other than their health. Where we support autistic residents or people with a learning disability, we pay attention to communication and to keeping routines predictable, because an environment that feels like a hospital ward helps nobody. Respite stays are available, whether a family carer needs a genuine break or someone needs a settled period of recovery after a hospital admission. We work closely with general practitioners, district nurses and hospital teams, and we keep families informed when health changes. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good.
