About Us
Peverel Green Care Home is a nursing home in Chelmsford. We provide nursing care for older people and younger adults, including people living with dementia, and we offer respite stays alongside permanent places.
Having qualified nurses on duty at every hour is what allows us to care for people with significant health needs without constant journeys to hospital. Medication, wound care, continence, long term conditions and care at the end of life are managed here, in close contact with local GPs, community teams and therapists.
Good nursing is only part of what makes a home liveable, though. Rooms are personal, visitors are welcome without appointment, and the day is arranged around the people here rather than around the rota. When somebody moves in we want to know about their working life, their habits and the people who matter to them, because that is what allows us to look after a person rather than a diagnosis.
For people living with dementia we concentrate on familiarity and time. A day with a steady rhythm, consistent staff, and space to respond properly when somebody is distressed rather than hurry them along.
The Care Quality Commission has not yet given us an overall rating. We prefer to say that plainly rather than let it go unmentioned. The most useful thing you can do is visit, meet the nursing team and talk to families of people already living here.
