About Castle View

Castle View is a nursing home in Dorchester in Dorset, providing nursing care for older people and for younger adults whose health needs mean qualified nurses should be on hand at any time of day or night. We also welcome people for respite stays. People arrive here in very different circumstances. Some have come from hospital after a serious illness, some have reached the point where managing at home is no longer safe, and some come for a few weeks while a family carer takes a break. What everybody gets is the same, which is proper clinical care and a home where the day belongs to the person living it. Our nurses look after medication, wounds, continence, pain relief and long term conditions, working alongside local GPs, community nurses and therapists. Where somebody is approaching the end of life we concentrate on comfort and dignity, and on making sure families know what is happening and feel supported through it. Away from the clinical side, we pay attention to the ordinary things. Meals people actually want to eat, a chance to get outside, visitors made welcome without ceremony, and staff who have the time to sit and talk. Small things sound trivial written down, but they are what makes somewhere feel liveable. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. You would be very welcome to visit, meet the nursing team and see for yourself how the home runs before making any decision.
