About Casterbridge Lodge
Casterbridge Lodge is a nursing home in Dorchester. We care for older people who need qualified nursing alongside help with everyday living, and we also care for some younger adults whose health needs require nursing support. Having nurses on duty at every hour of the day and night is what lets us look after people properly as their health changes. We manage wound and pressure care, continence and catheter needs, diabetes, pain relief and end of life care, and we work closely with GPs, district nurses and hospital teams so that treatment is joined up rather than fragmented. It also means somebody whose condition worsens can usually stay here, with familiar staff around them, instead of facing another move. The nursing is only part of the job. The rest is meals people enjoy, company when it is wanted, quiet when it is not, a proper night's sleep and staff who know how a particular person likes things done. We take the ordinary parts as seriously as the clinical ones. Respite stays are available, including nursing support after a hospital discharge. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. Families across Dorset are welcome to visit.
