About The Warren
The Warren is a nursing home in Bideford. We care for older people and for younger adults with nursing needs, including people living with dementia, people with physical disabilities and people with sight or hearing loss. Respite and short stays are available too. Having qualified nurses on site around the clock changes what we can offer. Complex health needs, wound care, continence management, diabetes, end of life care and the careful handling of medication are all managed here rather than requiring a move elsewhere. Just as importantly, it means someone can spot early that a resident is becoming unwell. Nursing is only part of it though. People live here, and a good day is made up of ordinary things, a proper breakfast, a walk outside, the newspaper, familiar music, a conversation that is not about care. Our staff know the residents well and we protect the time to sit and talk. For residents living with dementia we keep routines steady and the environment calm, and we support families through changes that can be hard to watch. Where someone is nearing the end of life we plan ahead with them and their family, we keep them comfortable, and we make room for relatives to stay. Bideford and the north Devon coast mean a lot to many of our residents, and we get people out when we can. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. Visitors are always welcome.
