About Kingsway Nursing Home
We are Kingsway Nursing Home in Durham, and we provide nursing care for adults with a wide range of needs. Qualified nurses are on duty day and night, which means health changes can be picked up quickly and families are not left wondering what happens after the office closes. We care for older people and for younger adults. Many of those living here are living with dementia, and we also support people with a learning disability, autistic adults, people managing a mental health condition, and people with a physical disability or a visual or hearing impairment. It is a broad mix, and it means we plan around the individual rather than around a category. Alongside the clinical side, we try hard to make this feel like somewhere people live. Rooms are personalised, meals are chosen rather than served by rota, and the day belongs to the person rather than the timetable. Our staff take time to learn what settles someone, what interests them and what their life was like before they came to us. We keep families closely involved and we work with GPs, district nurses, therapists and social workers as needed. Relatives are welcome to visit whenever suits them. We also offer respite stays, whether to give a family carer a break or to help someone regain strength after a hospital admission. Please contact us if you would like to visit and see the home for yourself.
