About Us
Picktree Court Care Home is a nursing home in Chester le Street, caring for older people whose health needs have gone beyond what can be managed comfortably at home. Having qualified nurses here at every hour means changes in somebody's condition are noticed early and dealt with calmly, which often spares a person an unnecessary hospital admission.
Much of our work is with people living with dementia. We keep the day unhurried and predictable, we make sure people see faces they recognise and we pay attention to the details that anchor somebody, a favourite chair, a particular time for tea, music they have always liked. We also care for younger adults, and we plan their day around their own interests.
Respite care is available too, for people recovering after illness and for family carers who need a genuine break.
Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. We take that as a baseline rather than a badge. What tells us more is whether people look settled and occupied here and whether relatives feel welcome to come in at any reasonable hour and ask us anything at all.
