About Hendra Court

We are Hendra Court at Par in Cornwall, a nursing home caring for older people and for younger adults with nursing needs. We support people living with dementia, people managing a mental health condition or an eating disorder, people with a physical disability or a visual or hearing impairment, and people whose lives have been affected by alcohol or drug use. That is a wide brief, and it reflects a view we hold fairly firmly: people do not stop deserving proper care because their needs are complicated or their history is difficult. We assess carefully and we are honest when we are not the right place, but we do not turn somebody away simply because they have been hard to place elsewhere. Qualified nurses are on duty around the clock, so health problems are picked up early by staff who know the person and families are not left wondering about overnight cover. Beyond that, the home runs around the people in it. Rooms are personalised, people get up and settle when they choose, and meals are something to look forward to. We work closely with GPs, community mental health teams, social workers and specialist services. Respite stays are available alongside permanent places. Our most recent CQC overall rating is good.
