About Us
Westbury Nursing Home and Westbury Garden Suite together provide nursing and residential care in Bristol. We support older people, including those living with dementia, people with a physical disability and people with sight or hearing loss, and we also support some younger adults with nursing needs. Respite stays are available for shorter periods.
Having both residential and nursing care here means people can often stay with us as their health needs change rather than facing another move, which matters enormously to families who have already been through one. The clinical side is only part of what we do though. Most of what makes a day good or bad has little to do with nursing. It is whether somebody was helped at their own pace, whether the food was something they genuinely wanted, whether their room feels like theirs and whether they were asked rather than told.
Dementia support is a significant part of our work. Familiar staff, steady routines and patience do more good than anything else, along with a real effort to understand what somebody means when words have become unreliable. Where people have sight or hearing loss we take particular care over how we communicate so that nobody is left out of what is happening around them.
Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. We keep examining the detail rather than treating it as settled. If you are considering a home in Bristol for a relative, please come and see us and ask us whatever you need to know.
