About The Care Home
The Sidcup Care Home is a nursing home in Sidcup, Bexley. We care for older people whose health needs go beyond residential care, for younger adults living with conditions that require qualified nursing, and for people with physical disabilities. Respite stays are available as well. Having registered nurses on duty at every hour is the foundation of what we do. Medication is managed carefully, wound care, catheter care and long standing conditions are dealt with on site rather than through a run of appointments elsewhere, and a change in a resident's health tends to be noticed early because the person noticing knows them well. We work closely with GPs, district nurses, therapists and hospital teams, and we press on a resident's behalf when something is slow in coming. Nursing is only half of what a home should be, and we try hard not to let clinical routine crowd out ordinary life. Residents choose when to get up, where to sit, what they would like to eat and whether they want company or quiet. Rooms are people's own space, filled with their own things, and visitors come when it suits them. For residents with physical disabilities the emphasis is on equipment that fits, transfers handled safely and without indignity, and as much independence as somebody wants to keep. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. Ring us if you would like to come and see an ordinary day here.
