About Axis Care Group

Axis Care Group provides care and support in people's own homes in Leigh and across the Wigan area. We work with older people, people living with dementia, adults with learning disabilities, autistic adults, people managing mental health conditions, people with physical disabilities and younger adults. We spend a lot of our attention on the handover of information, because that is where home care usually goes wrong. If a carer arrives without knowing that somebody has just come out of hospital, or that they had a bad night, or that a relative has changed the medication arrangement, then the visit is worse than useless. So we keep our notes current, we keep our teams small enough that people actually talk to each other, and we make sure the household knows who to ring and gets an answer. The work itself covers personal care, medication, meals, mobility, laundry, shopping, appointments and company. For some of the people we support it looks quite different again, with a support worker alongside them at college, at a group or in the first weeks of living independently. For people living with dementia we hold to familiar carers at familiar times, and we follow the routines already in the household rather than replacing them with neater ones of our own. We have not yet been given an overall rating by the Care Quality Commission. Please ask us directly about training, supervision and what we do when something goes wrong.
