About Us

At South Coast Care, we provide home care across Worthing and the surrounding areas of West Sussex, supporting people to live as independently as possible in the comfort of their own homes. We know that choosing care for yourself or someone you love is a significant decision, and we take that responsibility seriously.

Our team works with older people, younger adults, and individuals living with dementia, physical disabilities, and visual or hearing impairments. We understand that each person we support has their own routines, preferences and life history, so we take time to get to know the people in our care properly before anything else. That foundation of understanding shapes everything we do.

We are proud to hold a Good rating from the Care Quality Commission, which reflects the genuine effort our team puts in every single day. It means something to us because it is based on what actually happens during visits, not just what we say about ourselves.

Whether someone needs a short daily visit or more regular support throughout the week, we work around the individual rather than expecting them to fit around us. For those living with dementia, we are particularly mindful of the importance of consistency and familiarity, and we make every effort to ensure people see familiar faces as part of their care.

We believe that good home care is built on honest communication, reliability and mutual respect. Families and loved ones are always welcome to be involved, and we keep communication open so that everyone feels informed and reassured.

If you are thinking about care for yourself or a family member in the Worthing area, we would be very happy to have a conversation with no pressure and no obligation. We are here to help you find the right support.

More about the care at SCC Agency Ltd (trading as South Coast Care)

What each type of care involves, and the questions worth asking when you call or visit.

Older Person Care

The right amount of help in later life is usually less than families fear and more than the person admits. South Coast Care in Worthing is registered to provide personal care at home, covering washing, dressing, medicines, meals and company. Ask what each visit includes and how long it lasts, because that is what determines whether it works. Ask whether the same carers return, how absence is covered, and whether first thing and last thing calls are available. South East rates commonly fall between £29 and £35 an hour. West Sussex can assess whether a package should be funded or supported by a direct payment.

Dementia

Knowing how someone takes their tea and where everything lives is worth as much as any dementia qualification. South Coast Care is registered for dementia care, which describes permission rather than practice. Ask how many carers would attend across a month and whether visit times are held steady. Ask what carers do when personal care is refused, when meals go uneaten, or when someone has left the house alone. Ask how the agency reports concerns to family and the GP, and when it would recommend more help.

Physical Disability

Getting a person safely from bed to chair is a skilled job, not a matter of goodwill. South Coast Care is registered to support adults with a physical disability. Ask what training carers have on the equipment in the house, whether two attend for transfers, and how adaptations are arranged.

Visual / Hearing Impairment

Tiny courtesies carry the day where sight or hearing is poor, such as speaking first and putting the kettle back in its place. South Coast Care is registered to support people with a visual or hearing impairment. Ask how carers identify themselves, whether they can guide somebody outdoors, and how hearing aids and large print paperwork are handled.

Younger Adults

A person of forty receiving care at home has a diary, not just a care plan. South Coast Care is registered to work with adults under sixty five. Ask how far visit times can move, how carers are matched, and what support exists for work, study and getting about.
