About Us
JHR Care provides support in people's own homes in Horsham and across West Sussex. We visit older people, people living with dementia and younger adults.
Home care rests on small dependable things rather than grand statements. Arriving at the time we said. Knowing how somebody takes their tea and which door sticks. Noticing that three days of post has not been opened. None of that appears in a care plan and all of it is the difference between a service being delivered and a person actually being looked after.
The practical help varies with the household: washing and dressing, medication prompted or administered, meals cooked, getting up in the morning and settled at night, keeping the house in order, shopping, appointments and getting out of the door. Some people want one visit a week and others need several calls a day.
For people living with dementia we work hard at consistency, sending familiar carers at familiar times and following the routines already in place rather than tidying them up. We also see ourselves as support for the whole household, because relatives doing most of the caring often need somebody straightforward to talk to about what is likely to come next.
