About Care Partners
Care Partners in Newbury supports people in their own homes across the town and the surrounding area. Our experience covers dementia, learning disabilities and autism, mental health needs, physical disabilities, sensory loss and eating disorders, and much of our work is with younger adults. We begin at home rather than on paper. Someone from our team visits, meets whoever the person wants present, and works out what help would make a real difference and what the person would rather keep doing for themselves. From that we agree a plan, which might be a single short call each day or support at several points, covering personal care, medication, meals, housework, shopping, appointments and getting out. Across such a range of needs, training is not a formality. A carer supporting an autistic person, a carer supporting somebody living with dementia and a carer supporting somebody with an eating disorder all need to know different things, and ours do before they go out. Where somebody is living with an eating disorder we are patient at mealtimes, we do not make a performance of it, and we record what is actually eaten rather than what was offered. Consistency matters more than almost anything, so we keep teams small and introduce new staff properly. Our most recent inspection by the Care Quality Commission rated us good overall.
