About Creative Support - Duncan Court

Duncan Court provides supported living in Tower Hamlets for adults who want their own home with support alongside them. Our starting point is that the flat and the life belong to the person, not to us. Support is there to make things possible, so we ask what somebody wants their week to look like and build from that. For one person it is help with washing, dressing and medication. For another it is keeping on top of the home, the shopping and the bills. For someone else it is company and encouragement to get out into the neighbourhood and stay connected with people. Where a person communicates differently, we learn how before anything else, and we make sure every member of the team works the same way so that support feels consistent. Where somebody becomes distressed, we look for the cause and change the situation rather than managing the person. This is a diverse part of London and we take language, faith, food and personal preference seriously rather than assuming we know. Our overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good.
