About Burrow Down Community Support
We support people in their own homes in Paignton and across Torbay. Those we work with include adults with learning disabilities and autistic adults, people with physical disabilities, people living with sight or hearing loss, and younger adults. We begin with what the person wants their life to look like rather than with a list of tasks. For most of those we support, our purpose is not to do things for them but to make it possible for them to do things themselves, and then to step back. That covers cooking, managing money, getting to a job or a course, using the bus, and dealing with the everyday business that can be genuinely daunting on your own. Where somebody communicates differently, whether because of a sensory impairment or for another reason, we sort that out properly at the beginning, because everything else we do rests on it. Predictability matters here too. Being exactly where we said, at the time we said, doing what was agreed, matters more than almost anything else we could offer. We have not yet been given an overall rating by the Care Quality Commission, and we would rather state that plainly than write around it. We are happy to be asked how we recruit, train and supervise our staff.
