Home Care in Stanley 6 home care agencies · 5 rated Good by CQC

Only two home care agencies currently serve Stanley on this listing, both of them registered with the Care Quality Commission to deliver personal care in people's own homes. Each holds a rating of Good from its most recent inspection, so neither is carrying an inspection concern at present, which narrows the choice to a straight comparison between two soundly judged providers. Durham County Council is the body responsible for carrying out a care needs assessment and for deciding what funded support somebody qualifies for, and the council can also point towards agencies covering the surrounding area if neither of these two has capacity when you need it. With so few to weigh up, the inspection reports carry more weight than usual. Open both profiles, read what inspectors recorded about staffing, timekeeping and how each agency responds when something goes wrong, and use that detail rather than a first impression to decide which one to approach.

    • Home Care

We are the Care and Support Group in County Durham, based in Stanley, and we provide care in people's own homes across the county. The people we visit are a varied group: older people, many living with dementia, adults with learning disabilities and autistic people, adults living with mental ill health, people with physical disabilities, people living with sight or hearing loss, and younger adults. Because the range is broad, we do not begin from a fixed offer. We begin with the person, in their own home, asking how the day actually runs, what has become difficult, what they want to keep doing themselves, and where help would genuinely help. The support plan comes out of that conversation and is revised as circumstances change. In practice that might mean personal care, a prompt and a check with medication, meals cooked and eaten with company, help getting safely about the house, support to get out to work, college or the shops, or reliable company for somebody who has become isolated. For autistic people especially, predictability matters a great deal, so changes are explained in advance and staffing is kept steady where we can. We work at that consistency rather than promising it lightly. A carer who knows a person well is the one who notices early when something has changed. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. Ring us if you would like to talk through what support might look like.

    • Home Care

We at Accept Care are proud to provide trusted home care across Stanley and the wider County Durham area, supporting people to live well and independently within the comfort and familiarity of their own homes. Based in the DH postcode area, our team is ideally placed to reach individuals and families throughout Stanley and the surrounding North East communities. By delivering care directly in the home, we help residents maintain the routines, surroundings, and connections that matter most to them, whether that means staying close to neighbours, enjoying a familiar garden view, or simply waking up each day in their own bed. Our specialisms reflect the diverse needs of the people we support. We offer dedicated older person care and home care for those who benefit from a helping hand with daily living, alongside specialist dementia care delivered with patience, consistency, and compassion. We also support adults living with learning disabilities and autism, mental health conditions, physical disabilities, and visual or hearing impairments. Our experience extends to supporting younger adults, recognising that care needs are not defined by age and that every person deserves a tailored approach. In practice, this means our care is shaped around each individual rather than the other way around. Families can expect thoughtful conversations about preferences, routines, and goals, and a calm, respectful presence in the home. For loved ones living with dementia, we focus on familiarity and reassurance. For those with sensory or physical needs, we adapt our communication and support to ensure dignity is always at the heart of what we do. Our latest Care Quality Commission inspection, carried out in February 2024, awarded us an overall rating of Good, with Good ratings across the Safe, Effective, Caring, and Responsive domains. We are especially proud to have been rated Outstanding for being Well-led, a reflection of the strong values, clear direction, and committed culture that guide our team every day. For families, this provides genuine reassurance that the care provided is not only safe and effective but also thoughtfully managed and continually improving. If you are exploring home care options for yourself or someone you love in Stanley or the surrounding area, we warmly invite you to get in touch. We understand that choosing care is a deeply personal decision, and we are here to listen, answer your questions, and help you feel confident about the next step.

    • Home Care

Stanley Social Care supports adults in their own homes across Tower Hamlets and neighbouring parts of London. We help with personal care, medication, meals, laundry and shopping, and with the parts of life that sit outside those tasks, such as getting to appointments, staying in touch with people and keeping a bit of structure in the week. We support older people and people living with dementia, where familiar faces and a predictable pattern to the day do more good than almost anything else we could offer. We work with adults living with mental health needs, taking our cue from the person about what helps and what does not, and noticing early when something is shifting. We also support people with a physical disability and those living with a visual or hearing impairment, which means adjusting how we communicate and how we work in someone's home so they stay in charge of it. Younger adults are part of our work too, and we plan their support around the life they are building rather than around our convenience. Because we are often the only people someone sees in a day, we treat the conversation as part of the job rather than an extra. Carers who know a person well spot changes quickly, and that is worth a great deal to families who cannot be there all the time. If you are looking at home care in this part of London, we will come out, listen properly and set out what we can realistically provide.

    • Home Care

We provide care at home in Hornchurch and across Havering. We support older adults, people living with dementia, people managing mental health conditions, people with physical disabilities, and younger adults, and we help with personal care, medication, meals, shopping and the general running of a household. Being a local team is the practical heart of this. We know the roads and how long the journey really takes, which means we can build a round that works on an ordinary Tuesday rather than one that only holds together in theory. Arriving when we said we would is not a small courtesy when somebody is waiting to be helped out of bed. We think the honest test of home care is continuity. A familiar carer who has read the notes and remembers the conversation from last week does a better job in half an hour than a stranger does in an hour. So we send the same small team to the same people wherever the rota allows, and we protect that arrangement rather than treating it as a nicety. Our overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. We would rather use it as a starting point than a claim. We ask the people we visit what they think of us, and we act on the answers, particularly the awkward ones.

    • Home Care

John Stanley Thurrock is a home care agency based in Grays, supporting adults in their own homes across Thurrock. We visit older people and younger adults, people living with dementia, people with a physical disability and people managing a mental health condition. Calls range from half an hour in the morning to help somebody wash, dress and get going, through to several visits a day covering medication, meals, safe movement around the house, shopping and appointments. A great deal of the value in regular visits lies in what gets noticed. Post building up, a fridge emptier than it should be, a friend who has stopped being mentioned, somebody steady on Monday and unsteady by Thursday. Care workers who see the same people week after week pick that up, and we expect them to pass it on rather than complete the notes and move to the next call. Support is agreed with the person, written in plain language and revisited when circumstances change. We keep visiting teams small so that the faces at the door are familiar ones. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. If you are arranging care at home in Thurrock, please get in touch and we will come out and talk it through.

    • Home Care

We at StanleySmith Case Management are proud to provide compassionate home care across Ivybridge and the wider Devon community, supporting people to live well and safely in the place they know best: their own home. Rooted in the market town of Ivybridge, on the southern edge of Dartmoor, our team delivers care that reflects the warmth and character of this beautiful corner of the South West. Rather than asking people to adjust to an unfamiliar environment, we come to you, weaving our support gently into the rhythms of your daily life, your household, and your local community. Whether you live in the heart of town or in one of the surrounding villages within the PL postcode area, our carers travel to you with practical help and a friendly presence. Our care is thoughtfully tailored to a broad range of needs. We support older people who wish to remain independent at home, offering everything from companionship and help with daily routines to more comprehensive personal care. For adults living with a learning disability or autism, we take the time to understand individual preferences, communication styles, and goals, building trust at a pace that feels right for the person we support. We also work alongside people with physical disabilities and those with visual or hearing impairments, adapting our approach so that every interaction feels respectful, clear, and empowering. Younger adults navigating complex needs will find in us a team committed to promoting choice, dignity, and meaningful daily living. In practice, this means families can expect a genuinely person centred approach. We take time to listen before we act, understanding not just what care is needed, but how each person likes things done. For relatives who may live at a distance or juggle busy lives of their own, our involvement can offer real peace of mind, knowing that a familiar, dependable team is looking in, providing consistent support, and flagging any concerns early. From help with medication, mobility, and personal care to sensory friendly communication and meaningful companionship, our carers aim to make each visit feel calm, unhurried, and reassuring. Our commitment to quality is reflected in our most recent Care Quality Commission inspection, where we were rated Good overall. The CQC also awarded us a Good rating across every one of its five key areas: safe, effective, caring, responsive, and well led. For families, this independent assessment offers meaningful reassurance that the care we provide is delivered by a team that is trusted, capable, and continually striving to do right by the people who rely on us. It confirms what we work hard to demonstrate every day: that thoughtful, well organised home care can make a genuine difference to quality of life. Choosing home care is a deeply personal decision, and we understand that reaching out for the first time can feel daunting. If you are exploring options for yourself or a loved one in Ivybridge or the surrounding Devon area, we warmly invite you to get in touch. We are happy to talk through your situation, answer your questions, and help you consider whether our support might be the right fit. Whatever you decide, you will always be met with kindness, honesty, and respect.

Arranging and funding home care in Stanley

Start with a care needs assessment

Knowing in writing what somebody needs makes every later conversation about hours and costs much simpler. Any adult who appears to need help with daily living is entitled to a free care needs assessment, and a relative can request one on their behalf. Durham County Council carries out that assessment for people living in Stanley, decides which needs are eligible, and records how they should be met.

Who pays, and how charges work

A financial assessment follows and looks at income and capital to decide whether the council contributes, whether the person receiving care meets the cost, or whether the two share it. The value of the house someone lives in is not counted where care is delivered there. Home care is charged by the hour or by the visit, so the weekly figure rises with the length and frequency of calls.

Choosing between home care agencies in Stanley

Two providers, the same rating

The Care and Support Group County Durham and Accept Care Limited both hold a rating of Good. Since the badges match, the reports behind them are where the differences show, so read what inspectors said about staffing, training and how each agency handled things when they went wrong.

The questions that tell you most

Continuity matters more than almost anything else, so ask how many different carers are likely to visit in a fortnight and whether you will meet them beforehand. Ask how sickness and annual leave are covered, how far a call can slip from its agreed time before anyone tells you, and who answers the telephone outside office hours. Check how medicines are prompted, given and recorded, and ask for the written care plan and the schedule of charges before support starts rather than on the first morning.

Frequently asked questions about home care in Stanley

Can Durham County Council pay for home care in Stanley?

Durham County Council can contribute towards the cost of home care where an assessment identifies eligible needs. A financial assessment then looks at income and capital and decides whether the council pays in full, pays part, or whether the support is funded privately. The value of the property someone lives in is not taken into account for care delivered at home. Even where no funding follows, the assessment sets out clearly what support is needed.

How do I arrange a care needs assessment in Stanley?

Contact Durham County Council and ask for an adult social care assessment, for yourself or for someone else with their agreement. The assessment is free and is not means tested. A social care professional will look at what the person manages alone and where help would let them stay independent at home. If eligible needs are identified, the council records how they should be met and considers funding as a separate step.

How far ahead should we start looking for home care in Stanley?

Allow several weeks where circumstances permit, since assessments, financial checks and an agency's own capacity all take time to line up. With two agencies listed for the town, it is also worth asking the council about providers covering the surrounding area. Where a hospital discharge sets the timetable, the pace is far quicker and the hospital team will usually arrange initial support. Starting early means you are choosing rather than accepting whatever can be put together at short notice.

Which home care agencies cover Stanley?

Two providers registered with the Care Quality Commission currently match a search for home care in Stanley. They are The Care and Support Group County Durham and Accept Care Limited. Both hold a rating of Good from their most recent inspection. Each profile links through to the full inspection detail behind that rating.

What should I ask a home care agency in Stanley before agreeing to anything?

Ask how many carers will visit and whether the same faces return week after week, because continuity shapes the entire arrangement. Find out how the agency covers sickness and holidays, and what happens when a visit is going to be late. Ask how staff are trained and supervised, particularly on medicines and on moving someone safely. With both agencies holding the same rating, these answers are what will tell them apart.

How does home care compare with moving into a care home?

Home care brings support to someone in their own house, arranged in visits that can be increased or reduced as needs change. A residential care home provides accommodation with staff available at all hours, and a nursing home adds registered nurses to that rota for needs requiring clinical attention. Support at home often works well until overnight help becomes necessary or the house itself stops being practical. A care needs assessment usually helps families judge when that point has arrived.
