About Us

Desire Care provides care and support to people in their own homes in Burton On Trent and the surrounding area. We work with older people and with younger adults, and our experience covers dementia, learning disabilities and autism, physical disabilities, and sight and hearing loss.

Support is worked out at home with the person and whoever they want present. It may be a single daily call for personal care and medication, several visits for meals, housework, shopping and company, or a hand to get to appointments and out of the house. Some people want a great deal of help and others want very little, and we write the plan around which it actually is.

We should be open about where we stand. Our most recent inspection by the Care Quality Commission rated us requires improvement overall. We did not dispute what was found. Since then we have tightened the way we schedule, monitor and check visits, strengthened our handling of medicines and records, increased supervision and training for our carers, and had senior staff look at the care actually delivered rather than the care described on paper. That work continues.

We would far rather raise this ourselves and answer questions honestly than leave a family to find it out later. We are glad to go through the detail, and exactly what we have changed, with anyone who asks. What we are aiming at has not altered: turning up reliably, knowing the person we visit, and helping in a way that keeps somebody independent.
