About Us

Mumby's provides care at home, including live in care, for people across Abingdon and the wider Oxfordshire area. We support older people, adults living with dementia, people with physical disabilities and younger adults.

At our most recent inspection the Care Quality Commission rated us outstanding. We are proud of it and we try to keep it in proportion: a rating describes how we were working when somebody came to look, and it does nothing for the person who needs help at three in the morning next month. The only way to deserve it is to keep doing the ordinary things properly.

Live in care asks something particular of a provider. Placing somebody in a person's home for weeks at a time only works if the match is right, so we take real care over who goes where and we do not treat carers as interchangeable. It also means supporting our own staff properly, because a carer who is isolated and exhausted cannot look after anybody well.

For visiting care the principles are the same: familiar faces, enough time to do the job without rushing anyone, and honesty when the support in place is no longer enough.
