About Us

Here at Kezi & Clay Healthcare, we provide home care to people living in Retford and the surrounding areas of Nottinghamshire. Our work centres on supporting individuals in the place that matters most to them — their own home — where familiarity, routine and independence can be preserved in a way that a care setting simply cannot replicate.

We work with a wide range of people, including older adults, younger adults, and those living with dementia, mental health conditions, physical disabilities, and visual or hearing impairments. We understand that no two people have the same needs or the same life, so we take time to get to know each person properly before care begins. That means understanding not just what support someone requires, but how they like things done, what matters to them day to day, and how we can fit around their life rather than the other way around.

Dementia care is an area we take particularly seriously. We know how unsettling change can be for someone living with dementia, and we work hard to bring consistency and calmness to every visit. For those with mental health needs or physical disabilities, we aim to offer practical support alongside genuine human connection, because the two go hand in hand.

We are based locally in Retford, and that local knowledge genuinely makes a difference. We understand the community here, and many of the people we support are part of that same community. That closeness matters to us.

Our CQC registration reflects our commitment to operating transparently and to the standards expected of a regulated home care provider. We are straightforward about where we are and where we are heading.

If you would like to find out whether we could support you or someone you care about, we would be very happy to have a conversation.

More about the care at Kezi & Clay Healthcare

What each type of care involves, and the questions worth asking when you call or visit.

Older Person Care

Routines built over decades are worth protecting, and home care exists largely to do that. Kezi & Clay Healthcare is registered for older person care, covering washing, dressing, medication prompts and companionship. Since visits are charged by time, the practical questions concern minutes and faces. Ask how long each call lasts, how many carers would attend in a month, and whether the times are kept. Ask what is available in the evening or overnight, and what happens if a carer cannot gain entry. Hourly rates across the East Midlands commonly run from £26 to £31, so ask how travel and bank holidays affect the bill.

Dementia

Confusion is worse in unfamiliar places, so care delivered at home starts with an advantage. Kezi & Clay Healthcare includes dementia care in its registration alongside support for older adults. That advantage is lost if a different carer arrives each day at a different hour. Ask how many carers would be involved and how continuity is protected across a week. Ask what staff are instructed to do about distress, repetition or refused medication. Ask also how the agency advises a family when visits stop being enough.

Mental Health

A steady week, privacy and ordinary respect carry most of the weight in mental health support. Mental health conditions fall within the registration held by Kezi & Clay Healthcare. Ask what training carers have, how they notice and escalate a deterioration, and who holds the crisis plan. Ask also whether visits can be increased quickly when things worsen.

Physical Disability

Bathrooms and doorways set the limits of what is possible at home. Physical disability is named in what Kezi & Clay Healthcare is registered to provide. An occupational therapy assessment through the council can fund hoists, rails or a wet room. Ask whether carers are trained on the equipment present and how visits needing two people are staffed.

Visual / Hearing Impairment

Checking that a hearing aid works takes seconds and changes the whole visit. Visual and hearing impairment are both named in the registration at Kezi & Clay Healthcare. Lighting, clear speech and consistent habits matter as much as any equipment. Ask how carers are briefed on sensory loss and who arranges optician or audiology appointments.

Younger Adults

Flexibility is what younger clients tend to need most from an agency. Younger adults are included in what Kezi & Clay Healthcare is registered to support. Punctual early or late calls usually fit work and study better than long midday visits. Ask how much notice a rota change requires and whether support can be arranged away from home.
